Managed DNS Service
ECTISP is pleased to announce the future release of its Managed DNS service.
This full-featured service will be available as a standalone service for names
that have been registered through OpenSRS and through other registrars. Managed
DNS will be available June 2004.
The new service will include a 100% uptime guarantee (details coming in April
2004), zone management, domain forwarding and provisioning and management
via the Reseller Web Interface and OpenSRS API. To support migrations and
easy setup of zone information, the service includes automated zone retrieval
functions and default zone templates. This is a ECTISP hosted service with
systems located at multiple ECTISP facilities.

All provisioning and DNS management functionality will be accessible via the
a public management interface.
Functionality includes:
Public Mangement Interface
ECTISP will host a customer self-service site for zone management. Functionality
is based on the permissions that the Reseller has granted. For example,
Resellers may disable the end users ability to manage their zone. This Public
Manage Interface is available at :
https://managednsservice.ectisp.net .
DNS Features
The service offers zone management functionality including A, CNAME, MX
record management, as well as subdomain delegation. The ability to revert
the zone information to the defined default zone template and the ability
to revert changes to the previously saved entries is designed to minimize
entry errors.
Domain Forwarding Features
Domain forwarding is included in the Managed DNS Service and includes subdomain
forwarding, URL framing at a granular subdomain level, an Under Construction
page and a fully customizable Domain for Sale template.
Zone Updates In Minutes
With ECTISP Managed DNS service, zone information is updated in five (5)
minutes to the ECTISP hosted authoritative and slave name servers.
Automated Zone Info Population
Automated retrieval of existing zone information is provided to simplify
zone migration. This is built into the purchase process and is also available
for ongoing management. This functionality is based on a proprietary technology
developed by ECTISP and does not rely on zone transfer being enabled.
Reseller Default Zone
Resellers can set default zones records that are optionally added with each
new zone purchase. Should a Reseller or end-user input incorrect zone information,
they have the ability to reset their records to the defined defaults.
